Pre-School

Scavenger hunt

This week our story gave us the opportunity to focus on sorting in our group activities. The children have been learning to group items in order of size: small, medium and large, and we also completed a colour-sorting scavenger hunt. This activity helps children to expand their vocabulary by naming the objects and colours they find.

In our builder's tray this week we had cereal play, which the children really enjoyed. We identified the crunchy sound we heard as we played and incorporated cups, plates and utensils to enhance our play.

Outside, we played a throwing and catching game with the hoops. We teamed up with a partner and took it in turns to throw and catch the hoop to each other. We found it quite tricky to catch the hoops, so we will keep on practising next week.

With Christmas around the corner, the children have been making decorations to decorate our room next week. We have been making Christmas baubles, Christmas stockings and salt dough ornaments.

Next week we will be reading Hide and Seek Pig – Pig and Hen are playing hide-and-seek. But where could they be?
