This week, we started to read about the very hungry caterpillar and the children were very excited to explore live caterpillars. They were amazed to see how tiny, brown and wriggly caterpillars are. While reading our story, the children practised their counting skills and had fun eating different fruits such as strawberries, apples, plums, oranges and pears, just like our caterpillar did in our story. Each day we have been observing our caterpillar and the children have noticed that they are growing bigger and bigger each day. 

Role playing is part of imaginative play and a great way for your child to learn about the world around them and this week the children have been busy in our role-play area taking on roles and dressing up as police officers, firefighters and doctors. 

Next week we will be reading Doctors, a delightful story about a trip to the doctors and what to expect.
