Learning New Words and Using Our Voices

This week in nursery, we continued reading the wonderful story The Tiger Who Came to Tea. The children really enjoyed acting out the different characters from the story and retelling the story in order by cutting and sticking the pictures into the correct sequence.

As part of our learning, the children also had the opportunity to try some tasty treats just like in the story, including biscuits, iced fingers, and cheesy buns! They loved exploring new flavours and talking about their favourites with their friends.

We introduced lots of new vocabulary this week, including words such as furry and stripy. The children enjoyed describing the tiger and using these new words during conversations and activities.

We also focused on learning about personal boundaries and respecting each other’s space. The children learnt our “Boundaries Song” and practised using their words when something makes them feel uncomfortable. We talked about saying:

“Please stop, I don’t like that.” “I’m feeling uncomfortable.” “I need some space.”

The children are becoming more confident in expressing their feelings and understanding how to be kind and respectful towards others.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!
