Autumn Crumble
This week in Nursery we have continued our learning around Autumn. We have also been learning some Makaton signs linked to the season. The children have enjoyed practising the signs and using them alongside our conversations, songs and activities.
On Wednesday, the children had their very first cooking session, which they absolutely loved! We made a delicious apple, blackberry and plum crumble.
The children enjoyed learning about the different fruits and had lots of opportunities to explore them using their senses. They helped to cut and chop the fruit, tasted the fruits before cooking, and then made their own crumble topping.
We also learned about where apples grow and how they are harvested, which gave us a great opportunity to talk about farms, apple trees and how food gets from the tree to our plates.
Most importantly, the children enjoyed working together, trying something new and being very proud of what they had made. And, of course, tasting the crumble was a very exciting part of the experience! Thank you for all your donations.
Our book this week has been Owl Babies. The children have had a fantastic time learning some fun facts about owls and talking about the baby owls in the story.
We have been thinking about how the baby owls might feel when they cannot see their mummy, exploring feelings such as being worried, sad and then happy when their mummy returns. The story has provided lots of opportunities for the children to talk about their own feelings and experiences, as well as developing their understanding of characters and emotions.
