Reception

Coconut bake!
We’ve had another wonderful week in Reception, this time with extra baking!
In maths, the children have been focusing on counting objects to 5. Using a variety of practical resources such as counting bears, cubes, and natural objects from our outdoor area, they’ve been practising careful counting, learning to say one number for each item, and beginning to recognise patterns within numbers to five. We’ve also enjoyed singing counting rhymes to reinforce this skill in a fun and active way.
The highlight of the week was baking a traditional Caribbean coconut bake! The children loved helping to mix the ingredients, noticing the smell of coconut, and observing the changes that happened as it baked in the oven.
Please check your child’s online class journal on Tapestry, where you’ll find a video of the children retelling the story and photos from our Caribbean baking session. We’d love for you to comment or share your thoughts!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to another exciting week of learning ahead!
