Reception

Chappati Moon.
We’ve had another exciting week in Reception! Our new story this week was Chapatti Moon by Pippa Goodhart, which the children have absolutely loved. We followed the journey of the chapatti as it rolled away on its adventure, sparking lots of laughter and imagination during story time. The book also helped us explore some wonderful new vocabulary — words like luminous, simmering, and sizzling. The children enjoyed discussing what these words mean and using them in their own sentences, especially when pretending to cook their own “chapattis” in the role-play area!
In maths, we’ve been focusing on comparing amounts and learning to use the words more and fewer. The children have been practising these ideas through fun, hands-on activities such as sorting objects, sharing snacks, and counting toys.
We’ve also continued to develop our fine motor skills through creative activities and mark making, and we’ve loved spending time outdoors exploring autumn changes.
Thank you for your continued support — we hope you all have a lovely, restful weekend!
