Reception

What the Ladybird heard!
This week in Reception has been full of exciting learning across all areas. In literacy, we have been focusing on the story What the Ladybird Heard by Julia Donaldson. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to the story and joining in with repeated phrases. We explored the different farm animals in the book, discussing their sounds, features, and roles on the farm. The children enjoyed it when the animals made different noises.
In Understanding the World, we extended our learning about farm animals by talking about where they live and how farmers look after them. The children showed great curiosity and were able to name a variety of animals, including cows, pigs, sheep, and ducks.
In maths, we have been learning about repeating patterns, focusing on the AB AB pattern structure. The children used a range of resources such as coloured cubes, beads, and pictures to create their own patterns.
Have a wonderful break, and we will see you in the Summer term!
