Reception

Sports Day!

This week in Reception has been full of exciting learning and memorable experiences.

A particular highlight was Sports Day. Thank you to everyone who joined us to support and encourage the children. They thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the races and activities, showing fantastic enthusiasm, determination, and teamwork throughout the event. It was wonderful to see their confidence shine as they cheered each other on and celebrated one another's successes.

In literacy, we have been reading The Disgusting Sandwich, a story that sparked lots of laughter and discussion. The children loved exploring the unusual ingredients in the story and sharing their own ideas about what might make the most disgusting sandwich imaginable!

As part of our learning linked to the story, we carried out an investigation with a piece of bread. The children had great fun making it as "disgusting" as possible by adding different materials and ingredients. We then set ourselves the challenge of trying to clean it again. Despite our best efforts, we quickly discovered that some things are much harder to clean than we expected! The children enjoyed working together, making predictions, and discussing what might happen.

Throughout the week, the children have continued to show curiosity, creativity, and resilience in all areas of their learning. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm they bring to each activity and the kindness they show towards one another.

As the weather continues to be warm, please ensure your child comes to school with a named sun hat and that sun cream is applied before they arrive each morning. This helps us keep everyone safe and comfortable while enjoying outdoor learning and play.

Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you have a lovely weekend.
