Reception

Bread baking!
What a busy and exciting week we have had in Reception!
This week, we have continued our learning about wheat and where our food comes from. We enjoyed becoming bakers and had lots of fun making our own bread. The children followed the steps carefully, explored the ingredients and talked about how wheat is used to make flour and, ultimately, bread. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they waited for their bread to bake and then enjoyed tasting it!
In maths, we have been developing our understanding of cardinality. We have been practising counting objects carefully, making sure that we say one number for each object, and understanding that the final number we say tells us how many objects there are altogether. We have been encouraging the children to touch or move each object as they count to help develop accuracy.
We have also been retelling the story of The Little Red Hen. The children have worked hard to remember the sequence of events and have enjoyed telling the story using their own words, without the support of the book. We have been particularly impressed by their use of story language and expression!
Please have a look on Tapestry for more photographs showing some of the wonderful learning and activities we have enjoyed this week.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Reception Team
