Reception

Diwali - Bonfire night and welcome back!
We had a lovely time in Reception this week, with lots of exciting activities and learning taking place!
We have been using the wonderful story Chapatti Moon as a starting point for our learning about Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Through the story, we have been exploring different celebrations, traditions and ways in which people celebrate special occasions with their families. The children have enjoyed sharing their ideas and learning about the importance of Diwali.
To bring our learning to life, we have been busy getting creative! We have made our very own Diwali lamps using salt dough, carefully shaping and decorating them. The children have loved seeing their creations come together and have been developing their fine motor skills along the way.
As we enter the firework season, we have also been exploring fireworks through art. The children have created some fantastic firework pictures, experimenting with different colours, patterns and mark-making to represent the bright and colourful displays we see in the night sky. There have been some wonderful, imaginative creations!
A little reminder for parents and carers: our PE sessions will begin on Thursday 19th November. Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing their PE kit on this day so that they are ready to join in with all our fun physical activities.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to sharing more of our exciting learning adventures with you!
