Year 4 coders take on variables in Scratch!
This week, Year 4 began their new coding unit, perfectly timed with National Coding Week! We kicked off with a discussion about artificial intelligence (AI), exploring what it is, the benefits it can bring, and some of the possible dangers such as bias and accuracy. The children then jumped onto Scratch to edit an existing program called Catch the Doughnut. They experimented with changing variables and sprites to make the game their own.
Next week, we’ll be taking this further by using conditions created by variables to control what happens in the game. The children are very excited to see how their coding skills can make their games more interactive and fun!
