Maths - Area
This term, our Year 4 mathematicians have been diving into the exciting world of area. We’ve been learning how to calculate the area of rectangles and squares, and even more challenging compound shapes. By breaking tricky shapes into smaller rectangles, the children have been adding up areas to find the total—developing both their problem-solving skills and confidence in geometry.
Next week, we will be moving on to multiplication, which is a key focus for Year 4. Understanding times tables is essential, as multiplication is used in everything from calculating areas to solving real-life problems. Children will be practising both their core times tables and multiplying larger numbers, preparing them for upcoming assessments.
