Nursery

Feelings

This week in Nursery we have been listening to the story ‘Emotions’. This book offers the opportunity to reflect on how different situations can make us feel, as well as exploring some new vocabulary around emotions. This week the children have be learning the words; worried, poorly, well, excited, delighted and disgusted. During our carpet sessions the children have had the opportunity to think about their own feelings and about how we can change our mood when we feel sad, worried or cross.

In Nursery we try to give the children lots of opportunities to explore their emotions and label their feelings through role play and narrating them through their choices. In doing this we are able to offer children the language they need to express themselves and the tools to help with self regulation and building relationships.
