Year 1

Our learning of Harvest and why Christians celebrate this festival.

This week we started our learning about the Christian festival of Harvest.  We had an assembly that taught us the story of Harvest and why it is important and then back in Year 1 we had a visit from Susie, who taught us all about where food comes from and how to look after it.  The children loved exploring the different trays of seeds and learning a story about how a farmer struggled to find the perfect place to grow his crop.  We finished the lesson by planting our own seeds which we hope will grow into a pea plant.

Over the week, we have carried on this harvest learning and have been using the language of "we are thankful for......" which the children have enjoyed, especially when it comes to lunchtime in the dinner hall or when outside in our outdoor area, playing with their friends.
