Year 2

Science

In science this week, the children were learning about forces and friction. They had a choice of double-sided ramps, some of the surfaces were smooth (plastic, wood, foam) and some were rough (sandpaper, carpet, felt).

The children then tilted the ramp and put a car at the top and let it roll down the ramp. Using rulers, they then measured the distance the car travelled off the end of the ramp.

They discovered that the smoother the ramp, the further the distance travelled by the vehicle. The results were recorded in a table.
