Year 2

Art and more...

Year 2 have been very creative this week. Following on from their learning about Paula Cezanne, in art, they have started to experiment with clay.

All the children were given a small piece of clay, a tool, a board and some slip (water).  They had to roll some of the clay into a ball, and the leftover piece into a flat shape. With the sphere piece, they modelled it into a piece of fruit (of their choosing) and with the flat piece they made a leaf. They used a rolling pin and a tool to create the marks and shape they needed.

In maths, the children have been learning to subtract a two-digit number from another two-digit number, using 10s and 1s, partitioning, bar model and a number line. They have worked hard to understand how to get to the nearest 10 first and then take the remainder of the two-digit number away.
