Year 5

A busy week of learning

In science this week, we have been learning more about materials and their properties. We have been devising tests to work out what properties certain materials have. We worked out how to test if a material is permeable, flexible, magnetic or hard and recorded our results in a table.

Across English, guided reading and topic we have deepened our understanding of the Tudors. We have been learning more about the problems Henry VII faced when he first became King of England and what he did to solve them. We have been putting ourselves in the shoes of Lady Mary (first daughter of Henry VIII) and writing a letter to her betrothed, the Emperor of Spain.

In maths we have been continuing to learn more about tenths and make links to our existing knowledge of place value.
