Year 5

Volume investigation

Following on from last week's learning, we did a practical investigation focusing on volume. We made different lidless boxes by cutting out corners from a square and folding the piece of paper into a cuboid. We altered the size of the square each time by 1cm. We made predictions about what the volume of the box would be before we made it and then measured the actual volume after we had made it. We noticed patterns and used them to improve our predictions for the next box. Next week we will be learning about factors and making links to what we already know about multiplication.
