Year 5

Jane Goodall

In science we have been learning about animals and their habitats. As part of this, we learn about significant scientists who have contributed to the scientific understanding of animals. This week we have been learning about Jane Goodall. Jane is a leading primatologist whose work led to a greater understanding and appreciation of Chimpanzees. Her pioneering techniques from the 1960s and 1970s are still followed by scientists today. They led to the discoveries that chimps make and use tools, form life-long social bonds and even wage war with other chimps. We have designed and made adverts to raise awareness of the Jane Goodall Institute, which works all over the world to promote a sense of hope in young children that their actions can have a positive impact on the future world. Next in science, we will be learning about David Attenborough.
